Today's Gelhausen sample for today is at 2,991. The network is quiet.

Thanks to asuffield for his "quiet mode" patch, which should provide a less disruptive alternative to bans. The server upgrade project has been fairly quiet of late due to lack of time availability on the part of its participants. We'll evaluate whether to add this patch into the initial release, since the original purpose of the feature freeze was to speed things up and various factors have conspired to delay the release.

Finally, Acehigh informs us that he's started a new channel, intended to provide Linux support to new users. The channel is called #linuxnewbiehelp and he's looking for additional help. Please feel free to stop by and give him a hand.

Yesterday's Gelhausen sample dropped a bit to 3,210, not unusual behavior for Friday. Services has been moved behind the hidden hubs. Apologies for the splitting and rejoining involved. Our next step will probably be to institute hidden hubbing in Europe. The network seems fairly stable and quiet this morning.

Your editor is still rather tired and is currently experiencing the joys of "productive coughing." Don't bother to look it up, you don't want to know. :) He's also still looking for a job.

Have a great weekend!

Yesterday's Gelhausen sample hit 3,285, slightly down but still quite respectable as we near the end of the week. Our US arrangements now include two hidden hubs; zelazny is back from the dead to complement farmer. Some splitting was necessitated by the cleanup of our hubbing. Apologies for the inconvenience. In the next few minutes we will attempt to move services back behind hidden hubbing.

Your editor is a bit less tired and has graduated to dextromethorphan and guaifenesin for his cough. He's still looking for a new job.

Finally, benford, the replacement server for bear, is up and running. If you're on bear, you'll be getting messages asking you to switch to irc.openprojects.net or benford.openprojects.net so that we can shut down the old server.

Have a great Friday!

Today's Gelhausen sample is at 3,294, a new record. There's been some splitting in the Australian servers and your editor is currently fixing a rather odd problem with the hidden hubbing which is afflicting zelazny. When this problem is resolved we'll have two hidden hubs up on the US leg of the network. Bear traffic will be moving to a new server sometime in the near future and several other servers may be activated soon.

Your editor appears to have a minor flu bug which he's sharing with his spouse and his two-year-old. He continues to look for a job.

On behalf of OPN staff, enjoy your Wednesday evening and the rest of your week! :)

Today's Gelhausen sample is at 3,261. A few splits occurred but the network is fairly quiet. Your editor is handling jet lag, working on a few preliminary issues on the incorporation, working on finishing up his contract job and is looking for a new job. Have a great evening!

In today's news, the Gelhausen sample is at 3,268, a record. The network had one user flooding on a number of channels earlier (from a single IP), but he flooded himself out before staff could ask him to stop and hasn't been seen since. 8)

Our contribution from Mandrakesoft came in today. Kudos to those fine folks for supporting the network. Your editor has updated the total to reflect PayPal fees to date. It's time for us to declare a moratorium on further contributions until we need more for the incorporation process, or until the process is complete and we are formally registered as a non-profit.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed in this and so many other ways! The incorporation process will go a bit slowly. We'll keep you posted. Your editor is working out some details and is also busy finishing up a contract and looking for a new job. If you're interested in hiring a coder (C, perl or other languages) or a system administrator (Unix/Linux) please contact him at email address: lilo at openprojects dot net.

Have a great week!

Hi all! Your editor is back in his normal haunts in Alameda, California USA and is incredibly jet-lagged. Apologies for missing the Sunday news, but the connectivity in tourist class is not all it could be. Yesterday's Gelhausen sample was at 3,026, not bad for the end of a weekend. We had one hubbing glitch and a channel attack on #linpeople, but things were fairly quiet. I'll write more this evening.
