OPN Internal Projects: Operations
OPN operations places special emphasis on the unique network philosophy. As such, volunteers should not expect to receive O-lines or other special privilege or authority. Staff are responsible for discussing and implementing policy, for integrating server changes into the production environment, for discussing and resolving routing and hubbing issues and for working to resolve the problems caused by denial of service attacks.
The catalyst role is of increasing importance to the operation of the network, and operations volunteers are expected to familiarize themselves with the role and practice these skills as effectively as possible in their interactions with other users.
The primary location of staff volunteers on OPN is the channel #openprojects. To become active in the operations project, spend time on this channel and become acquainted with other volunteers who staff the network and with the culture and approaches they employ. Be aware as you do so that none of us is perfect, but that our goal is improvement, and we can always use your input into the process.
