I have a school project that has the goal to give a quick and easy how-to list what to think about when you want to market beverages in US. Maybe there are different laws and restrictions depending on which state? As I said, this is just a school project in my marketing class, so it’s not on life or death. However, it would be great if I haven’t missed any big things that could result in my essay getting a F….
I have minimised the project to regard only non-alcoholic beverages, something that hopefully will make this project a lot easier. I do know that there are a lot of licenses regarding different beverages and some agent already have the license to sell and distribute some brands. That is why I would like to narrow down this open project to a brand new beverage, as least brand new for the us market.
Starting points for the beverage marketing
Let’s say that I find a great soda whilst visiting France. I have never seen this in US but think that this beverage will totally work for my fellow Americans. Because of this I find the distributor, which turn out to be a smaller French one, and they only sell the soda in France. So, now then? I need to buy the licence from this French distributor and then i do have the possibility to try to sell it in US, right?
A couple of bullets I am wondering about:
- Do I need to run it by some health inspection or similar? Maybe it is some restricted substance in this weird french soda?
- The name? Let’s say this soda is named Sprut. Something quite similar to Sprite, which is quite a famous brand. Who do I check with if this is alright or if I do need to change the name? If so, do I need to run this by my French distributor? Maybe he doesn’t like the name?
- And the actual marketing, I would really appreciate to get some smart input to how I should market a beverage in a cost effective way. Is ambassador/influencers the way to go in the market om 2017?
This is my open project, i really hope that someone could help me out with this a bit.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
